Heli tends to give the impression of being different from what a normal Hades' kid should be but in reality, he's just as unsocial if not worse. He's mostly active during the night where his abilities are more powerful—being surrounded by darkness also seems to give him more energy. However, in an off-chance that he is seen during the day. He's much a bit sluggish and out of it, he also tends to hide in the shadows unless somebody calls for him. But other than that, he's usually amicable. He's easily coerced into doing things, especially if it piqued his interests. He loves animals, specifically dogs! He's a huge sucker for sweets but also has a weakness for some good coffee. He tends to rant when he's feeling nervous. He's extremely sensitive to gazes, especially those full of malice or bloodlust. He's quite touchy with people he cares about.tl;dr: a socially awkward, sweets-loving boii!

II. HIS STORY

Alone. That has always been Heli's reality ever since he was old enough to walk. No parents, no relatives, nada. Heck, he never even knew what 'family' was until he got to the orphanage.Yes, he grew up in the streets. Barely living from the leftovers that they would find in the trash can. From the moment Heli can remember and comprehend things, he have already registered the orphanage as his home and that he had no other ‘past life’ nor a family he can hope to find in the near future. He was just a simple orphaned kid. A child lucky enough to be found, probably abandoned somewhere near the place. And somehow to a certain degree, he’s thankful for that—for ‘luck’, that is. It’s obviously the only thing that’s been keeping him alive after all.Life in the orphanage wasn’t too bad; he ate three times a day (although he may not be that satisfied with how much food there was on his plate), they were also thought how to read and write along with some other basic things you need to know in life.Alone. That has always been Heli's reality—from his childhood to his teenage years. But it's not like he had no choice, it's just that he chose the one he's most familiar with—and that is to be alone. He doesn't have to explain the shadows, the apparitions and the nightmares. But most importantly, he doesn't have to bear through the heart-wrenching feeling of being left alone because he was weird. Different. And so, he learned to live his life only for the sake of staying alive. Nothing more, nothing less.

childhood

Heli had always been an observant kid, always quick to notice things despite his young age. That’s why at eight years old, he’s already aware of how—different, he is. Reoccurring nightmares, ghastly apparitions, and talking shadows. At most he could compare to a normal child is maybe an imaginary playmate… but still, even that’s already a stretch. Mayhap that’s why he just learned to accept his mother’s behavior towards him. The piercing glare, the loud disappointed sigh every time he does something unusual… even a normal kid would know something’s wrong. It used to give Heli so much anxiety just standing near his mother, focused on her every movement, his whole-body stiff just waiting for the next time she snaps at him again. It’s almost like having to live with a ticking time bomb. You never know when it’ll go off. And so, so many times he felt unable to breath—but he’s fine. The shadows made sure that he's fine every time. It’s ironic how he finds more comfort in the darkness and in the shadows compared to his own mother. But it’s alright. He learned how to deal with it. How to detach himself and bury his emotions—because that’s what's right. And that's what she expects from him.He was 11 when she stopped coming home. He remembers clearly how it was a week before his birthday, or so he heard from that one and only time his mother mentioned something about it. Heli waited for hours but he knows deep down, he knows she already abandoned him—or now that he thinks about it, wasn’t he abandoned since the very beginning? How funny. The apartment that used to be so suffocating and restricting, suddenly felt so… unbearably empty. But it’s fine though. He’s fine. The shadows are with him and they’re whispering in his ears that he’ll be just fine.Heli sniffled once and suddenly the dam that is his emotions finally broke, his tiny body curled in the dark corner of the room, face finally resembling a kid his age as he cried and wailed for his mother to come back. And for hours, only heart-wrenching sobs left his throat, eyes blurry with the constant stream of tears down his cheeks. The shadows kept him company. It’s okay. It will be okay. He’s okayhe’sokayokayokayokayHeli was sent to live with his relatives after she disappeared. He stayed there ‘til he was fifteen. Afterwards he was left alone to fend for himself and that’s just when he started to slowly, unravel stuff about him and his father. Hah. No wonder he scares the ghosts.

school life

Heli didn't attend school for any important cause—he didn't believe that education can help him change his life for the better or something. And he most certainly did not attend school because he thought there'd be a group of friends willing to accept a weirdo like him. He may be different but he's not that delusional. The way his mother treated him has been forever engraved into his mind and body. He has experienced his fair share of bullying as well when he was still a kid, not yet faced with how cruel the outside world can be. But he knew not to repeat those same mistakes and that’s why he learned how to adapt—because it’s always easier to bend than break. If the crowd laughs, then he smiles. If they shed a tear, he may frown. Always the bare minimum of what is expected. That’s probably the reason why sometimes, his emotions come off as fake or insincere—even to himself. It’s exhausting. But that’s what kept him sane for this long, especially from those sharp judgmental gazes, trying to find faults in his every move and seemingly waiting for him to fail. His shadows were his only escape, hiding him from the cruel reality and unknowingly, saving him from the monsters that are after his life as well.

camp half-blood

Demigod.Heli has been called many names but not yet a demigod. It’s quite fucking unbelievable, so to say. Add the fact that this also means his absentee of a father is a god… he was effectively rendered speechless. But only for like, ten seconds though because they were faced with two ge-gegeines? Basically, monsters with a lot of arms. That’s not even the end of it! He had to fight it with Jay, his former classmate now turned satyr. That was basically the preface to his crazy half-blood life. They traveled for so long, avoiding monsters—which used to be weird people that stared a little too much at Heli. Never knew they wanted him dead or worse—as a meal. It’s like having a movie’s genre change from fantasy with maybe a hint of mystery to hardcore horror and thriller.Heli gives his life a 1/10 rating on rotten tomatoes—heck, maybe even a 0. He never really liked plot twists anyways.Apparently, their destination was called Camp Half-blood. A place designed specifically for demigods like him. Sounds like a scam if you ask him but between a fake camp and the very real monsters following them, quite eager for a taste of a demigod’s flesh—he’d rather bet on the camp, of course. Then they arrived, bloody and hecking exhausted. Heli was ready to storm out of the camp once he was healed, still pretty unconvinced with all this demigod stuff… until he got claimed—that annoying floaty symbol on top of his head. All of a sudden, he gets a godly parent for a father and several cute siblings—kinda wish they didn’t come in a bundle though.

hades, lord of the

underworld

Meeting his father for the first time was unlike anything Heli expected. Calling it awkward would be the biggest understatement of the year—maybe even the decade. Sure, half may be due to it being their first meeting but he’s pretty sure half of it is because he dissed him quite a lot during his claim story at the campfire.‘Greetings, Heli.’ He was a bit taken a back, not really expecting the other to be aware of his name… of his whole existence, actually. “Um, yes. Hi. Uh, father.” He replied, self-consciously.The following silence was almost deafening to him… aside from it being horribly uncomfortable, of course.“This—was how you looked to her? My mother, I mean. Or?”‘Yes. This was the form I took while I was with her.’“Oh… Cool.” Another long pause. He could feel the anxiety pestering his insides before he finally succumbed to asking the question he wanted to ask since the first he saw his father, “So… why did you bring me here?”Heli didn’t really expect any explanation or consolation for the life he lived so far from the other, it just seems quite far-fetched to him but now, he wasn’t sure what to feel when he got exactly what he expected. His intense gaze trailed after his father as he raised a hand, followed by a resounding snap of his fingers and a loud rumble of the ground beneath them. For a split second, he believed Hades was all ready to bury him six feet (maybe deeper) underneath—but then a worn-out pouch appeared just a few steps away from the demigod, a black ring sitting on top of it.His father didn’t utter a word but he felt that he wanted him to take it and so he did.‘A few drachmas and a weapon—the ring transforms into a Stygian iron dagger.’“… thank you, father.” He nods as he picked up the items, slipping the aforementioned ring onto his pinky.Nothing about his past was really resolved, he’s still unaware why he was so unwanted by his mother and why his father left them when he was young. But surprisingly, he did feel some weight come off his chest now that he got to see Hades. For some reason, things just made a bit more sense… which is pretty nice.Heli felt the shadows start to cover him again before he spoke quickly, “Wait—!” The shadows paused, his father raising an eyebrow, “Can I stay here for a bit? To practice—maybe if you got a library about demigod history and stuff then that’d be a great help as well.”And that’s basically how he spent his week of absence from the camp. Meeting Hades, the lord of the underworld as well as his father. Pretty cool but eh, Heli would still probably diss his father any chance he gets in the future.

III. his skills

» ADHD; Helps him react ahead of time during battles.
» Dyslexia; His brain has been hard-wired to understand the divine Ancient Greek for the cost of being shitty with modern languages.
» Mist; Allows him to see through the false images.
» Necromancy; This is his weakest ability

- Power over ghosts: He can physically touch and manipulate ghosts.
- Sensitivity to Death
- Power Over the Undead / Osteokinesis: He can reanimate two or three skeletons, and is able to control their bones albeit unstable.

» Umbrakinesis; This is his strongest ability

- Darkness Generation: He can solidify shadows to attack, form shields and surround enemies in pitch-black clouds of lightless space.
- Shadow Travel: He can use shadows to travel though mostly short to medium range. Travelling with other people leaves him quite drained and in rare cases, it might even render him unable to move.
- Invisibility: He can use shadows to hide himself.
- Vitakinesis: He can heal his own minor injuries using darkness, he's unable to use it on others.
- Enhanced Vision in the dark

» Geokinesis; He has control over the earth although the range is limited, mostly 8-12ft around him. He has no ability to control precious metals.
» Phobikinesis; He can radiate an intense aura of fear and death which can cause enemies unable to move for a certain period of time, the range is limited to 5ft around him and can go to at least 10ft when focused on just one direction. He needs to focus really hard to activate this ability.
» Fighting Skills; He don’t have much experience with fighting in any other form except daggers, he’s very light on his feet so he prefers dodging instead of head-on attacks.

His weapon is a black Stygian iron dagger that normally takes the form of a ring on his pinky. It was given by his father on their very first meeting. He calls it 'blackie' and yes, he does it for the laughs.

IV. plot ideas

» sparring partner; (m/f, open for all) the moment they met eyes at the arena, both just felt the urgent need to smack the other's face.» shadow... travel?; (m/f, open for all, crack) you never knew when it started but suddenly you found yourself always catching heli appearing from the weirdest shadows ever. (i.e. a fallen tree trunk, from behind a bathroom stall, etc.)» misunderstanding; (m/f, open for all, crack) heli said he was sore. from training. you took it the wrong way. then suddenly there was innuendos everywhere. (nasty!)
